As the car sits today, it is in rough shape and will need some work to get it back on the road. Much of the parts on the car as it sits are original and Jerry plans to put the car back together with stock parts to the greatest extent possible.

A complication of the process of looking for parts throughout the barn is the fact that there are parts for other model year Shelby GT500 Mustangs, so each part found requires an inspection of the details to test for compatibility with the car.

Jerry buys the Ford Mustang, which he describes as his “dream car” and looks forward to getting the car back on the road.

Before taking the car home, Jerry speaks with the current owners of the car, the sons of the man who last bought it, and they discuss some of the history of the car and their memories of it, commenting that it is somewhat sad to see the car leave, but they feel confident that it is going to the right home
