Jay Leno Explores Gabriel ‘Fluffy’ Iglesias’ Incredible 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

At the video’s outset, Leno compliments Iglesias for his choice of Chevelles, even if the purchase was more by accident. This one is a restored original, numbers-matching car with few frills. According to Leno, a lack of air conditioning, power windows, and other extras keeps the focus on performance and helps preserve value.

A quick view around the car reveals a mint Chevy with an immaculate interior and engine compartment. Underneath the hood rests a 396-cubic-inch V8 attached to a four-speed manual with a Hurst shifter. Out of the factory, the engine served up 325 hp.

The duo sets off in the Chevelle with Leno behind the wheel; Fluffy has yet to drive his Chevy. But both smile as the engine roars to life with every stomp of the accelerator. It’s an eventful journey across the streets of the San Fernando Valley as Leno and Iglesias reminisce about cars and show business.

At the controls, Iglesias is even happier with his purchase. He remarks, “I’m loving this car; it’s super smooth,” when talking about the ride quality and handling of the 53-year-old Chevelle
